Sell digital products (downloadable files and links)
How to create a digital product in véltica, upload downloadable files, or send buyers to an external link after payment.
On this page
If you sell PDF guides, templates, spreadsheets, audio files, design packs, or access to online resources, digital products deliver the material to your customer automatically as soon as payment is confirmed—without you having to send emails by hand.
Create a digital product from Catalog → Digital products
Go to Catalog → Digital products and click New offer (or pick Digital when creating from Catalog → All offers). The wizard is broken down into steps built specifically for a download:
- Information (
Your file): Write the title buyers will see (for example, Plant care guide (PDF)), a short description of up to 200 characters for your shop cards, the full description detailing what is inside, and upload a Cover image. - File (
What they download): Upload the files your customer will receive. - Price (
How much it costs): Choose whether it will be a One-time payment, a recurring Subscription, or Free (in exchange for the visitor’s name and email). - Delivery (
What happens next): Decide which page the buyer lands on after paying. - Review: Check the summary next to the Stripe checkout preview and click Create offer (to keep it as a draft) or Create and put on sale.
The image you upload in the first step is the public cover of the offer, not the downloadable file. The actual file the customer buys always goes in the File step and stays private until purchased.
Upload the file the buyer will receive or set up a delivery link
You have two ways to deliver a digital product, and you can combine them depending on the size or type of resource:
- Upload files directly to véltica: In the File step, click Choose a file. You can upload up to 5 files per offer, up to 15 MB each (the space they use counts towards your project’s storage). Once uploaded, you can click Rename so the buyer downloads a file with a clean, tidy name.
- Send them to an external link or private page: If you are delivering a large file hosted in the cloud (Drive, Dropbox, Notion, Figma) or access to a community or webinar, go to the Delivery step (Where the buyer lands) and switch the default option to A page on my site or An external address (must start with
https://).
| Delivery method | When to use it |
|---|---|
| Files uploaded to véltica (up to 5 × 15 MB) | Ebooks, PDFs, templates, documents, or lightweight .zip bundles that you want véltica to host and deliver on the built-in thank-you page. |
External address (https://) |
Large video folders, Notion/Canva/Figma templates, or private groups outside your site. |
How and when the customer receives their download after payment completes in Stripe
The delivery flow is immediate and requires no manual work from you:
- The customer clicks the buy button on your site (or checks out from the cart) and completes the secure payment in Stripe. If the offer is Free, they simply enter their name and email without a card.
- As soon as Stripe confirms the charge, it automatically sends the buyer back to the Built-in thank-you page (or the page/URL you picked under After paying).
- On that screen, the customer sees confirmation of what they paid and the buttons to download their files right away.
- At the same time, véltica sends them a confirmation email with their order summary and access to their download so they never lose it if they close the browser tab.
Update the file of an already published digital product
If you fix a typo in your guide or release a new version of your template, you do not need to create a new offer or touch the buttons on your site:
- Go to Catalog → Digital products and click your offer to open its detail page.
- Go to the Settings tab or click Edit in the Files card.
- Click Remove on the old version and click Add another file to upload the updated file.
- Save your changes.
The update goes live immediately without having to republish your whole website: the next person who buys or downloads that offer will get the new file, while the public URL, price, and sales history of the offer remain intact.
