Import and export your contacts as a CSV file
Download your contacts list as a CSV file or prepare an existing database without creating duplicate records by email.

Your data always belongs to you. In véltica, you can download your entire Contacts list at any time as a standard .csv file to analyze it in Excel or Google Sheets, keep backup copies, or take it to another platform. Likewise, if you already had a customer list before building your website, you can prepare and bring those records into your dashboard without creating duplicate profiles.
How to download your contacts list as a CSV for Excel, Google Sheets, or another tool
Exporting your directory takes just a few seconds:
- In the left sidebar of your dashboard, go to Contacts.
- If you only want to download a specific segment (for example, only contacts with a certain tag or status), apply those filters first in the top bar.
- Click the Export CSV button in the top-right corner.
- Your browser will automatically download
contacts.csvencoded in UTF-8 (so accents and special characters read properly in any spreadsheet app).
The downloaded file organizes your information into the following columns:
| CSV column | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Name | The full name saved on the contact’s record. |
| The customer’s primary email address. | |
| Phone | Their phone or mobile number. |
| Tags | All tags assigned to the profile (for example, Newsletter, VIP). |
| Status | The contact’s current CRM status (Active, Spam, or Blocked). |
| Source | The channel that created the contact first (Form, Purchase, Booking, or Manual). |
| Forms | The count or reference of forms submitted by that person. |
| First interaction and Last interaction | The exact dates of their first record and most recent activity on your site. |
| Note | The text of internal team notes linked to the profile. |
To open the file in Google Sheets with all columns and special characters intact, create a new sheet, go to File → Import → Upload, and select your
contacts.csvfile. In Microsoft Excel, use Data → From Text/CSV and make sure the file origin is set to65001: Unicode (UTF-8).
How to prepare an existing contact list and how duplicates are prevented by email
If you’re coming from another tool and want to bring your client roster into Contacts, make sure to clean and structure your spreadsheet before adding the profiles to your account:
- Prepare the essential columns:
- Email (required): every row needs a valid email address (
name@domain.com), since véltica uses this field as the unique key to identify each person. - Name: the contact’s first and last name in a single column.
- Phone: preferably include the country code (for example,
+1 (555) 000-0000or+52 55 1234 5678) to keep formatting consistent. - Tags: you can separate multiple tags with commas (for example,
Imported, 2025 Clients) to easily identify that group inside the dashboard. - Note: any internal context you want to keep on their timeline.
- Email (required): every row needs a valid email address (
- Save the file as
.csv(comma-separated values): in both Excel (Save As → CSV UTF-8) and Google Sheets (File → Download → Comma-separated values (.csv)), you’ll get a clean, lightweight file without hidden formulas or styling. - How duplicate records are prevented by email:
- In véltica, you will never end up with two separate profiles sharing the same email address inside the same project.
- If a contact’s email already exists on your list (because they previously submitted a form or bought an offer), the system recognizes the existing address and merges the information into their current profile, keeping their entire purchase history, booked appointments, and past messages intact without overwriting or erasing their activity.
