Publish your site, unpublish it, and protect it with a password

What happens when you publish your site, how to protect it with a password, set your favicon, hide the véltica badge, or unpublish it.

On this page

Publishing turns your draft in the editor into a fast, live website accessible to everyone. From your project settings, you can also restrict access behind a password, customize your browser icons, or take your site offline whenever you need to.

What happens when you click Publish (site build, file upload, and automatic backup)

The Publish button lives in the top-right corner of the Editor, because the editor is what builds every page of your site. When you click Publish and confirm with Publish to selected domains, véltica automatically runs these steps in seconds:

  1. Reads site settings and builds your pages: compiles the current design of all your published pages, brand styles, and automatic catalog, booking, and blog pages.
  2. Registers forms and updates thumbnails: connects your page forms to your Website → Forms inbox and refreshes the preview thumbnails in your dashboard.
  3. Uploads files to the global network (CDN): publishes the site to your .veltica.com subdomain and any custom domains you have selected.
  4. Creates an automatic backup: saves a complete snapshot of that version in Settings → Backups so you can restore it anytime if you want to roll back later.

Pre-publish checks: draft offers or unsaved changes

Before launching the build, the Publish menu checks that everything is ready:

  • “To complete” or draft items: if your page includes services, products, bookings, or blog posts started by the AI (or still in draft), you will see the notice {count} items not published on your site. You can still publish your site with confidence: those items will not go on sale until you complete them in the dashboard (and if a section only contains unpublished items, it will either hide automatically or display as Coming soon, depending on your setting in Settings → Site settings).
  • Changes still saving: if you just edited something a moment ago, wait a second for the top bar indicator to switch from Saving… to Saved before clicking Publish.

How to password-protect your entire published site (Settings → Site settings → Site password)

If you are preparing a private launch, sharing a preview with a client, or only want people with a password to view your site:

  1. In your project dashboard, go to Settings → Site settings.
  2. Scroll down to the Site password card and turn on the Password protection toggle.
  3. Enter a password of at least 6 characters and click Save.
  4. Open the editor and click Publish so the password screen goes live on your site.

From that moment on, anyone who visits your address will see a password prompt before they can view any page on the site.

Password protection is included on the Pro and Business plans. To remove the password later, turn off the Password protection toggle, save, and publish your site again.

How to set up your browser icons: Light favicon, Dark favicon, and Web clip

On the same Settings → Site settings screen, inside the Site icons card, you can upload up to three icons (under 2 MB each) that véltica resizes and optimizes automatically:

Icon Where it appears Recommendation
Light favicon In the browser tab when a visitor uses their browser in light mode (light tab background). Use a dark or high-contrast version of your mark on a transparent background.
Dark favicon In the browser tab when a visitor uses dark mode (dark tab background). Use a light or white version of your mark so it stands out against a dark tab.
Web clip When someone saves your site as a shortcut on their iPhone, iPad, or Android home screen. Use a square icon with a solid background so it looks like a native app icon.

Remember to click Publish in the editor after uploading or changing your icons so they update on the live site.

How to hide the “Made with véltica” badge (paid plans)

Sites on the free plan display a small, quiet Made with véltica badge in the corner of published pages.

If you are on a Pro or Business plan:

  1. Go to Settings → Site settings and find the véltica badge section.
  2. Turn off the Show the “Made with véltica” badge toggle and save your changes.
  3. Publish your site again from the editor to remove it from all published pages.

How to temporarily unpublish your site to take it offline

If you need to take your site offline temporarily without deleting your project or losing your work, you can unpublish it from two places:

  • From the dashboard: go to Settings → Domain, find the Your site (It is online) card, and click Unpublish.
  • From the editor: open the Publish menu in the top-right corner and choose Unpublish site.

Once you confirm Unpublish the site?, your address stops answering right away (including your booking pages). No pages, offers, or contacts are deleted: everything stays intact in your dashboard and editor, and clicking Publish again puts your site back online right away.
