Connect Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to your site

Where to find your G-XXXXXXXXXX Measurement ID in Google Analytics 4, how to add it to your project, and how it works with cookies.

On this page

Even though véltica includes built-in visit, sales, and booking analytics with zero setup, you may work with a marketing agency or run Google Ads campaigns and want to send events to a Google Analytics 4 (GA4) property.

Where to find your Measurement ID (G-XXXXXXXXXX) in Google Analytics 4

To link a Google Analytics 4 property, you need its Measurement ID (or the Google tag snippet):

  1. Sign in to your Google Analytics account and open Admin (the gear icon in the bottom left).
  2. In the Property column, go to Data streams and select your site’s web stream (or create a new web stream with your site’s domain).
  3. In the top right corner of the stream details, you’ll see your Measurement ID, which always starts with G- followed by letters and numbers (for example, G-A1B2C3D4E5).

Saving it in Settings → Google Analytics and publishing the site to activate it

In your project’s sidebar, go to Settings → Google Analytics to check the status of the native GA4 integration:

  • If the direct integration is enabled in your project: paste your G-XXXXXXXXXX Measurement ID in Settings → Google Analytics, save your changes, and click Publish in the editor so véltica automatically injects the tag across all published pages.
  • If it still shows as Integration not available (under development) in your account or you want to place the tag on specific pages only: you can paste Google’s official tag (gtag.js) today by going to Website → Pages, opening Settings on the desired page, and pasting it into Advanced → Code in the head (<head>). Once you click Publish, the code goes live inside the <head> of your page.

Keep in mind that neither head code changes nor tracking integrations are injected into your public site until you Publish the site again.

How Google Analytics works alongside your site’s privacy notice and cookies

véltica’s built-in analytics (Analytics → Visits) are measured server-side without tracking visitors across other websites or installing advertising cookies. By contrast, when you add Google Analytics 4, Google does set measurement cookies in your visitors’ browsers.

Because of this, keep two things in mind:

  1. Cookie consent: where your region’s laws require it (especially if you serve visitors in Spain or the European Union under the GDPR), sending data to Google Analytics must respect the visitor’s cookie consent.
  2. Up-to-date privacy policy: make sure your Privacy policy is published under Settings → Policies. véltica’s legal templates already account for measurement technologies and privacy rights based on your business’s country.
