Managing images, videos, and files in the editor
Search free professional photos, upload your own images or MP4 videos, adjust framing, focus, textures, and embed YouTube or Vimeo.
On this page
- Searching and inserting free photos from the professional library (Images)
- Uploading your own images, videos, and files by dragging them into the window (Files)
- Supported formats and automatic optimization for images and videos
- Cropping images and adjusting fit (Fill, Fit, Stretch), focus point, and aspect ratio
- Adding dark overlays (Overlay), textures, filters, and rounded corners to images and section backgrounds
- Embedding YouTube or Vimeo videos and configuring autoplay, loop, and muted playback
On the left rail of the editor you have two panels dedicated to visual assets: Images (a ready-to-use professional photo library) and Files (where all the photos and videos you upload to your account live).
Searching and inserting free photos from the professional library (Images)
If you don’t have your own photography yet or need to illustrate a section quickly:
- Click the Images icon on the left rail (or select an image on the canvas, click Change image, and switch to the Gallery tab).
- Type any topic or keyword into the search bar (for example, coffee shop, architecture, meeting, wellness).
- Drag a photo directly onto an existing image on the canvas to replace it, or drop it into an open spot to insert it as a new block.
Uploading your own images, videos, and files by dragging them into the window (Files)
In the Files panel on the left rail (or the Uploads tab inside the image picker), you manage your business’s own media:
- Drag and drop: drag one or more photos or videos from your computer directly onto the canvas or into the Files panel.
- Shared library across your account: files you upload are saved to your véltica account, so they stay available across all of your projects without uploading them twice.
- See where each file is used: before deleting an image from Files, open its options menu (
⋯More options) to check Show where it’s used. If a photo is used in 2 places on your site, véltica warns you before deleting it so you don’t leave empty spots by accident. - Filter by type: use the top What to show filter in Files (All, Photos, Videos) to find what you need quickly.
Supported formats and automatic optimization for images and videos
| File type | Supported formats | Size limit |
|---|---|---|
| Images | JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, and SVG |
Up to 10 MB per image (1 MB for SVG) |
| Uploaded videos | MP4 and WebM |
Based on your plan’s capacity |
Note for iPhone videos (
.mov): Web browsers requireMP4orWebMto play across all devices. If you recorded a.movvideo on an iPhone, export it toMP4from the Photos app or a converter before uploading.
When you upload images to véltica, they are automatically optimized to load fast on both mobile and desktop. Remember to fill in the Image alt text (Alt) field in the Image group of the inspector to describe the photo for search engines (SEO) and screen readers.
Cropping images and adjusting fit (Fill, Fit, Stretch), focus point, and aspect ratio
When you select an image on the canvas, its context bar and the Image group in the inspector let you control how it sits inside its frame:
- Image fit (
Fit mode):- Fill (
Cover): the image fills the entire frame without distortion. - Fit (
Contain): shows the whole photo inside the frame without cropping any edges. - Stretch (
Fill): stretches the image to match the exact width and height of the box. - Original: keeps its natural dimensions.
- Fill (
- Focus (
Focus) and Crop (Crop & reposition): if a photo set to Fill crops out part of a face or product on mobile, drag the focus point onto the important area of the photo so it always stays in view regardless of screen aspect ratio.
Adding dark overlays (Overlay), textures, filters, and rounded corners to images and section backgrounds
When you place an image or video as a section background or inside a card with text on top, you can make sure the copy always stays easy to read from the Visual group or background settings:
- Overlay (
Image Veil): adds a solid color veil, bottom shade, brand tint, or gradient over the photo and lets you adjust its Strength so light headings stand out clearly. - Texture: applies a surface finish over the background—choose from Grid, Dots, Lines, Diagonals, Grain, Blur, Frosted, or Vignette—and dial in its Intensity.
- Rounding and Filters: adjust the corner radius (all corners together or Edit each corner) and apply visual filters from the Effects group.
Embedding YouTube or Vimeo videos and configuring autoplay, loop, and muted playback
In véltica you can use two kinds of video depending on the job:
- Uploaded video (
MP4/WebM): ideal for hero backgrounds and visual sections. Choose between two Playback modes:- Ambient: plays on its own as soon as the page opens, muted and looping continuously.
- Player: shows playback controls so visitors can press play, scrub, and toggle Audio (With audio or No audio), and lets you pick the Cover (From the video or Own photo).
- YouTube or Vimeo video: insert the YouTube / Vimeo element from Insert → Media (or switch to it from the Video button in the context bar) and paste the video link (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=…). It will appear with its official player ready to play on your published site.
